Project: Travelodge Stockport
Client: Emerson Group
Main Contractors: PE Jones Contracts (Manchester) Limited
Consultant / Designer: Elmec Air Conditioning Limited
Scope of Works:
The works consisted of a full conversion and renovation of an existing eleven storey office building, with the lower four floor being converted into a new 86 bedroom Travelodge hotel.
Whilst the conversion was taking place the remaining seven storeys of the building were in full use as office space. Therefore, the completion of the works brought challenges in ensuring that the works were completed without impacting on the existing tenants, which was successfully managed.
The air conditioning works provided a full VRF heating and cooling system to every bedroom within the hotel, each with individual control and, also through a centralised control system which could be operated centrally by Travelodge staff only.
All other areas within the building both front and back of house were also completed through the VRF system to provide full heating and cooling to all offices, meeting rooms, bar and lounge areas all with controls both local and centralised throughout.
The final element of the works was the specialist installation of an independent bar store cooling system which provided, full localised cooling for all the drinks to be served within the hotel bar areas.
The project was successfully completed and handed over for trading three weeks early which enabled the building to be opened early and so benefit from a pre-Christmas opening and the ensuing trade over the holiday period.
